Wknd ramblings

K has his Year 1 Final Exam tomorrow. In a complete reversal of roles, he is writing downstairs whilst I'm upstairs on the computer in what shall forever be known as "The Cabin", aka the 2nd bedroom. K termed it this from getting cabin fever. He's going to see the Editors tonight with Stephen. Some might think it foolish going to a gig the night before an exam but I think he really needs it to switch off for a time. Also, to be fair, he bought the tickets before the exam date was set.

I had two fuzzy warm heart moments whilst travelling to stay with my mum and step-dad in Cumbria at the weekend: one was on the rail replacement bus from Grange to Dalton-in-Furness bumbling along the country lanes, listening to tunes on K's IPoD whilst taking in the views of Morecombe Bay and the cows in the fields; the other was on the way back to Manchester when the train came into the Castlefield Locks area. I knew then that I do belong in Manchester at this time. I have torn loyalties - I love the countryside but yet I love the city!

I had a gorgeous time in Cumbria. You just can't beat having a humongous great big chocolate cake made for you, can you? On Friday night I watched Harry Potter with one of my bro's and nephew. He got the pizzas and garlic bread in and I provided the wine. On Sat, me, my bro, nephew and mum had a swim in her pool. Then my mum and I went on to visit my sister at the
South Lakes Wild Animal Park. Whilst trying to track her down, we saw the Lemurs were being fed banana chunks and we joined in. They are the cutest! My mum and I had a proper look around which was great as usually I just go to visit my sis.

I had a rather embarrassing moment involving an emu. An emu was walking in my direction on the path and being the chicken that I am I started walking backwards rather than pass it. It got to the point where I thought "I have to do this" and so pulling my rucksack off my back and using it as a sheild, I quickly ran past. I had thought no-one was around but a woman had appeared and she was laughing at me. In my defence I should say that my sis did used to have rhea's (an animal similar to an emu) in the backgarden before her ex set up the Animal Park and these took rather a shine to pecking me, hence my fear.

W
hilst on the computer, I'm importing more of our CDs onto iTunes. We're up to "O" and I'm listening to Oasis. I've not heard anything by them in a while and its actually quite good. I reckon they they should re-do the cover of "Standing of the Shoulder of Giants" onto a Manchester citiscape, rather than New York, now that Manchester has a brand spanking new iconic tower in the Betham Tower.

Hope any of you Sanctus lovelies reading this had a great time on the weekend away. Sorry to have missed coming on the Saturday. To explain why would involve one long story involving a phantom dog !

Had a great time - though we did miss you.

I'm sorry to hear you were scared by an emu. Once I was chased by a goat and it was very scary.

Missed you both loads at the weekend.

I love this post; I've read it twice.

Phantom dog?

I don't mind goats so much. My sis and her ex used to keep them too. I used to enjoy taking them for walks along the beech and all the attention from the public you got!

Ask Lev for the story of the dog when you see him!
