FLAMING LIPS: PLASTIC JESUS

Having a rather chilled day so far, reading the papers and listening to music. Surprisingly don't have a hangover considering I was drinking red wine from 5 pm onwards last night. I do feel rather pooped though which is probably due to low blood sugar levels.

In the Observer Music Monthly there's an interview with Wayne Coyne, The Flaming Lips' frontman where he talks about the tunes that have inspired him along life's journey. Usually when I read this mag, I like to check out the tunes peeps are talking about and so I am always on the computer with the mag, checking out this and that.

The only Flaming Lips song I have is "Plastic Jesus" which I just played and rediscovered. I actually only have this song by default, having wanted to download "Personal Jesus" by Depeche Mode and gaining this my mistake. Its a rather amusing wee song - lyrics as follows.

I don't care if it rains or freezes
Long as I got my plastic Jesus
Sittin' on the dashboard of my car
Comes in colors, pink and pleasant
Glows in the dark, it's iridescent
Take it with you when you travel far
Get yourself a sweet madonna
Dressed in rhinestone, settin' on a Pedestal of Abalone Shells
Goin' 90, I ain't scared
Cause I got the Virgin Mary
Assuring me that I won't go to hell

Am off now to finish the rest of the paper! Bye for now my lovelies and enjoy your Sundays
